About Keith’s Closet

Keith's Closet is a not-for-profit charity that provides support to members of the community who are accessing the mental health service. Through our walk-in wardrobe facilities, we provide clothing, toiletries, footwear and accessories on admission or discharge from a mental health facility so consumers can embrace their reintegration and thrive in society.

Meet the Team

Keith Donnelly

Founder and
Director of Keith’s Closet

During my time as a student and qualified mental health nurse, I recognised that patients accessing our services often arrived at hospital, with just the clothes on their backs and with limited access to alternative clothing, toiletries and accessories.

I had a vision to change that and as a result of extensive discussions with the executive team at Prince of Wales Hospital, Keith’s Closet opened on 24th January 2019.

Having grown up in India, I have seen poverty and inequality at its worst and I have seen first-hand the amazing work that charities do in those communities.

It has been an ambition of mine to be involved in a community-based organisation where I can contribute in my small way.

I only understood the true meaning of good mental health after living through COVID lockdowns by myself. I was lucky enough that I had a good boss, colleagues and friends that gave me the support that I needed. So when I was asked to help, I could not say yes quick enough! The sky is the limit for Keith’s Closet.

I have spent my career working in health services and have witnessed over and over the importance of the charitable and volunteer sectors.

Keith’s Closet is a genuinely important service; helping individuals on their recovery journey and building community along the way.

When Keith invited me onboard, I didn’t have to think twice… It’s an absolute honour to be part of the Keith’s Closet team!

Director of Keith’s Closet

My childhood was marked by mental illness, as my mum battled Bipolar disorder for most of it. I've witnessed firsthand how dehumanising psychiatric wards can often be and understand the very important role organisations like Keith’s Closet play in helping patients re-enter society with dignity and empowerment.

I’ve worked in fundraising and philanthropy for the last ten years, managing many areas of the fundraising mx from corporate partnerships, major donors, events and individual givers.  I’m delighted to support Keith’s Closet to reach their fundraising goals and help make a positive difference to those suffering from mental illness.

Director of Keith’s Closet

From my first interaction with Keith’s Closet on the back of their Christmas shoebox drive, I knew I had skills that I could bring to the organisation that would add value.

With  30+ years of experience working in premier technology companies across the Asia Pacific region, my understanding of strategy development, business operations, program & process optimisation will go a long way to helping take Keith’s Closet vision and mission to the next level.

Ambassador

Josh Carroll

Being an ambassador for Keith’s Closet is something that is a no brainer for me. Having my dad pass away due to severe mental health problems, I knew that I had to align myself with somebody who understood the trials and tribulations that people who suffer with these things go through, so that’s why I’ve decided to back Keith and Keith’s Closet with everything that they’ve done and continue to do.
